Three Thanksgivings Are Better Than One
Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 6:05AM I had an extended Thanksgiving this year which consisted of three Thanksgiving dinners over the course of a week. The first one was a "friends Thanksgiving" last weekend at Adam Riess' apartment. The second was on actual Thanksgiving day (Thursday) at Aunt Ellen's. And the third was last night at Colleen's parents house. Here is my Thanksgiving cuisine review for each of the dinners.
THANKSGIVING #1 - ADAM RIESS
-There was turkey and ham...both were fantastic, although I preferred the ham.
-Peas and stuffing were good.
-No points for the burnt biscuits.
-The homemade wine was too strong and hard to drink.
-Bonus points for securing a long ass table at the last minute. (Otherwise everyone would be sitting on the floor)
THANKSGIVING #2 - AUNT ELLEN & UNCLE MIKE
-Tasty turkey.
-I enjoyed the cheesy mashed potatoes.
-The pie selection was unbelievable and included apple, my favorite.
-Rolls were a little too hard for my taste.
-New twist on the stuffing by adding chopped apples, but I couldn't really get into it. I guess I'm a stuffing traditionalist.
-Bonus points for busting out Guitar Hero 2 after dinner.
THANKSGIVING #3 - THE MARTIN'S
-Turkey...good.
-Rolls were soft and up to my standards. Best so far.
-Stuffing was phenomenal! Not too chive-y like a lot of stuffings are. Perfect texture.
-Gravy was a little watery.
-Would have preferred a plain cheesecake rather than a fruit topped one. Although, I've never really been a fan of enormous amounts of fruit topping.
-Bonus points for rewarming the food for us after showing up late. (All Colleen's fault...duty calls at Blockbuster)
